Installation-focused company has trained 25,000 installation technicians in over 40 countries
TEMPE, ARIZ. – June 30, 2015 (MEDIAWIRE) – Mobile Solutions, premier technical installation training center and supplier of fabrication tools and solutions for the mobile electronics industry, announced that July 2015 marks the company’s 10-year anniversary of its founding. The decade achievement sees the Tempe, Ariz.,-based company training more than 1,500 installation technicians per year and distributing professional tools and accessories to retail businesses worldwide.
Ten years ago, former Rockford Fosgate employee Bryan Schmitt sat out to create a unique training experience separate from the burgeoning growth of installation centers and vocational programs that were defining the industry’s educational framework. Noting that almost all available training centered on basic installation and theory and were focused on beginning to novice technicians, Schmitt determined that Mobile Solutions would cater to the professional installer, elevating existing expertise with time-saving procedures and specialized techniques that enhanced the creativity of any installation.
Within a few years, most installation schools closed due to the economic collapse and reluctance of banks to offer financing to students. When Rockford’s own RTTI training center shuttered to new students, the audio manufacturer enlisted Mobile Solutions to take its training on the road. The one-year, 20-city tour put Schmitt in front of hundreds of professionals, and turned his fledgling company into a destination for professionals looking to hone their craft.
“When we first started, there were a few really talented guys doing great things with fabrication,” said Schmitt. “My goal with Mobile Solutions was to show other professional technicians that they could do it as well—on projects big and small and in a minimal, profitable amount of time—using the right techniques and tools.”
To support the goal, Schmitt put his mechanical engineering background to work, designing and producing fabrication-specific tools in-house. It was part of an initial plan to take 10 tools to International CES to help technicians improve creativity and save installation rime. The explosion of interest and sales prompted the company to expand the line, as well as source other fabrication materials to support a “one-stop-shop” model. Today, Mobile Solutions distributes more than 400 SKUs to installation technicians around the world.
“In ten years, this business has grown from my wife Michele and myself to four awesome employees and a great group of industry friends who assist me in training classes,” Schmitt said. “I’ve traveled to over 40 countries to train and it’s been a blast.
