Industry veteran Kerry Moyer joins new group as vice president of strategic partnerships

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – August 15, 2014 (SDG MEDIAWIRE) – The Mobile Electronics Retailers Association today announced a major restructuring of its service model. Mobile Electronics, currently the name of the association’s industry-leading trade publication, will now be the moniker for all of its entities, including the magazine, its association (MERA), its trade show (KnowledgeFest), and its retail channel partnership program (In Car Experts). The association’s software and service offerings, including TSS Point-of-Sale software, MAID Installation software and Fit Guide product / vehicle database, will also take on the Mobile Electronics brand. The formation of the new Mobile Electronics group will provide the industry with a single source to access a full array of beneficial products and services.

“Each of our businesses, in their own way, are focused on helping manufacturers reach retailers and retailers reach consumers,” said Chris Cook, president of the new Mobile Electronics group. “At the same time, there are several areas in which efforts are duplicated and opportunities for efficiency are overlooked. What we want to do is combine all of our products and services so that we can offer more value to our manufacturer partners and a complete, integrated support structure for our retailers. At the same time, we will continue to support the entire industry through Mobile Electronics magazine and the newly named Mobile Electronics tradeshow.”

Under the new “One Brand, One Voice” structure, manufacturers that want to purchase print advertising, reserve tradeshow booth space and employ a fit guide solution on their websites will now be able to secure all three products with a single transaction instead of working with up to three people on different terms and transactions. Retailers benefit from similar consolidations. Moreover, both groups will realize a potential cost savings based on economies of scale as group resources are optimized.

As part of the restructuring, Mobile Electronics has tapped consumer electronics industry veteran Kerry Moyer to fill its newly created position of vice president of strategic partnerships for the group. Moyer will be responsible for developing and managing programs related to each business segment, creating new partnerships with manufacturers and exploring new revenue opportunities.

Moyer, who will report to Cook, worked for eighteen years at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) serving in various positions including senior director, strategic relationships. During that time, he worked closely with many of the consumer electronics channel buying/marketing groups. Prior to CEA, Moyer worked eighteen years in retail as an owner-partner in a chain of audio, video and mobile electronics sales and installation stores in the metro Washington, DC area. Moyer received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.

“I’m excited about coming on board at this time,” said Moyer. “The new association and our channel partnership program provide both our dealer members and manufacturer partners an excellent opportunity to work together to grow business and profits in the mobile electronics specialty channel. In addition, the technology products we offer are top-notch, and they lead the industry.”

The Mobile Electronics group will roll out a new website, mobile-electronics.com, as well as information and program materials, over the next few weeks. For more information, call Kerry Moyer at (978) 645-6457 or email him at kerrym@mobile-electronics.com.
