Deep smartphone integration, customization options let users create a personalized in-car experience

LAS VEGAS – January 6, 2015 (SDG MEDIAWIRE) – JVC Mobile debuted the flagship of its five new-for-2015 multimedia receivers at the 2015 International CES. The KW-V51BT meets consumer need for a high-quality, touch-enabled unit that can be the center of entertainment for built-in and connected media.

“The KW-V51BT shows that you can have a truly connected system that takes the focus off the smartphone and delivers complete media access through the receiver,” said Daniel Jones, product and marketing manager for JVC Mobile. “The improvements of this year’s model keep up with changing technology and give our customers a quality multimedia experience.”

The most significant improvement to the KW-V51BT is better integration between the receiver and compatible Android-based smartphones. The JVC Smartphone Control app, available as a free download from Google Play, allows smartphone apps to be displayed and controlled on the receiver’s screen (only select apps can be controlled while driving.) The app has been improved this year with a simplified on-screen design that allows one-touch access to main functions like phone-resident navigation, media selection, phone contacts and available smartphone apps.

To further minimize driver distraction, a 7-inch touch-screen display gives the user plenty of room to select large-icon media options, which can be reconfigured to create a personalized menu. In addition, the KW-V51BT is fully compatible with most factory steering wheel audio controls.

For users who prefer to keep their phones in a pocket or purse and still access their music, the KW-V51BT now offers higher-quality audio playback using Bluetooth. Equipped with the latest hands-free profile, the KW-V51BT drastically expands the audio spectrum that can be transmitted over the air, resulting in better voice quality for phone calls and better noise reduction.

The KW-V51BT’s multiple inputs and outputs make it easy to bring music and media from portable devices into the vehicle and enjoy them on a larger, safer stage. A direct HDMI/MHL cable connection lets Android users view and interact with apps and video from the phone using the radio’s larger display. iPhone users enjoy a similar experience with JVC’s App Link Mode for iPhone, which allows compatible iPhone apps to work on the radio’s screen.

The KW-V51BT can also use the connected smartphone as an Internet portal to play Pandora® Internet radio or iHeartRadio™ content. Both apps are built into the KW-V51BT.  For more entertainment, the KW-V51BT is SiriusXM-Ready™ (SiriusXM SXV300 Connect Vehicle Tuner sold separately, subscription required). Siri Eyes Free Mode is another built-in feature that lets the user query Siri on a connected iPhone to play music, set reminders and get Web-based information.

While the KW-V51BT packs a lot of technology into a double-DIN size, its core audio and video features stand out as well. The receiver is equipped to play an array of audio and video formats, including Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC), which is becoming increasingly popular with audio enthusiasts. The built-in amplifier delivers 50 watts into each of four channels to significantly improve audio quality through factory speakers. For larger systems, three sets of pre-amplified outputs connect to aftermarket amplifiers. In either configuration, the KW-V51BT can precisely personalize the audio experience with 7 preset sound curves and a 3-band parametric equalizer.

Dual video inputs enable the addition of a rear-view camera to enhance driving safety, as well as an optional source. The KW-V51BT’s Dual Zone feature lets the driver select different sources to play on the dash monitor and connected rear-seat monitors.

The KW-V51BT will carry an MSRP of $569.95 and is expected to ship in March. For more information, visit www.jvc.com.
