At $139.95, the KD-R960BTS provides latest in technology, connectivity and safety

LAS VEGAS – January 7, 2015 (SDG MEDIAWIRE) – Most new vehicles come from the factory with built-in Bluetooth, satellite radio, input jacks for portable devices, and direct USB connections for iPhone or memory stick integration. Drivers who want to keep their older vehicles and get this new technology now have a cost-effective solution in JVC Mobile’s new KD-R960BTS CD receiver.

“Statistics show that people are keeping their cars longer on average, and are willing to upgrade them rather than part with them for newer vehicles,” said Daniel Jones, product and marketing manager for JVC Mobile. “The KD-R960BTS is the perfect solution for consumers who want to make their older vehicles new again with the same features that come standard from the dealership lot.”

With its industry standard single-DIN size, the KD-R960BTS (MSRP $139.95) fits most older vehicles, connecting to existing factory fixtures or using a third-party installation kit. The new, symmetrical design of the radio face and controls integrate visually with any dash, and ergonomically places most-used functions with within easy access. Its built-in, 50-watt x 4 amplifier provides a significant power upgrade over the factory radio and connects directly to existing speakers. The receiver is configured to take commands from the vehicle’s steering wheel audio controls, and three-zone, variable color illumination creates a unique look not found on competitive CD receivers in its price range.

But the fit and cosmetic integration with the vehicle only reveal part of the feature set of the KD-R960BTS. With multiple inputs, it connects to and plays music from late-model Android™-based smartphones or iPhone® models via USB, or any other device that can accommodate its front-mounted 1/8-inch audio jack. The KD-R960BTS is SiriusXM-Ready™ (SiriusXM SXV300 Connect Vehicle Tuner sold separately, subscription required).  Built-in Bluetooth in the KD-R960BTS plays music wirelessly from a compatible phone or device. The receiver can also use a connected smartphone as an Internet portal to play Pandora® radio or iHeartRadio™ through its built-in apps.

The technology aspect of the KD-R960BTS ensures that any connected device can be used safely and with minimal driver distraction.  By connecting an iPhone or using the JVC Music Play app with an attached Android smartphone, the receiver controls the device to make audio selections and access device-specific features. With Siri Eyes Free Mode, a dedicated button on the panel activates Siri on a connected iPhone, allowing the driver to call contacts or make information requests by voice and get audible results through the vehicle’s speakers.

In addition to bringing new media sources into the vehicle, the KD-R960BTS has the capability to play those sources with power and clarity that far outpaces standard factory audio systems. The Bluetooth function features the latest profile that expands the frequency response to result in richer audio from phone calls. Radio playback benefits from the Digital Processing Tuner, which eliminates errant noise from the broadcast signal. Drivers can also tailor the sound to match their preference with 12 sound curve presets and a 3-band parametric equalizer. And for a more substantial audio experience, the KD-R960BTS connects to external amplifiers to build a truly customized system.
